Deep inside the Kantemo Cave of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, you’ll see unique snakes that hang from the cave ceiling and catch bats in mid-air. These snakes evolved to hunt and eat bats that fly out of the darkest corners of the cave. Tourists can test their fears and witness firsthand this predatory behavior—seen only in a few places around the world—if they can stomach the claustrophobia, utter darkness, and thousands of bats flying around them while, just a few feet away, dozens of serpents hang from crevices in the cave ceiling, waiting to snatch their next meal.
