The 80s were the time of some great horror movies centered on science gone awry. But if you only have time to watch one, make it the Fly. Writer-Director David Cronenberg is a sci-fi horror icon for a reason, many of which are demonstrated in The Fly. His take takes a cheesy 1958 movie, and takes it to another level, actually exploring some really deep aspects of humanity.
The makeup and effects are pretty awesome, and the Best Makeup Oscar was well deserved. But it’s the doomed romance between Jeff Goldblum, and Geena Davis that makes this film really special.
