Ofsted Chief Inspector: books found in Islamic school saying wife-beating is ‘okay’

The chief inspector of schools Amanda Spielman says people are ‘afraid’ to talk about instances in which religious and cultural beliefs come into conflict with the rights of girls.

She tells Sophy Ridge about an Islamic and a Jewish faith-based school which promoted discriminatory practices against girls.

She calls for people to talk more openly to address issues in which different rights ‘bump into one another’.
