Computer science engineer Arthur Zang invented the Cardiopad, a game-changing medical device that could save millions of lives in rural Africa and beyond. The small tablet measures heart activity and performs cardiac tests, but its true value comes in its portability. Previously, Africans living in remote villages had to travel great distances to hospitals in the city if they needed medical care. Now, health care workers can use the Cardiopad to administer life-saving medical exams right at home, and then send their results through a cell phone connection.
