Baby Elephant Stuck in a Watering Hole? Send in the Chopper! | National Geographic

What do you when a baby elephant is stuck in a watering hole? With experience in elephant rescue, members from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust came to save the day. Using a helicopter to temporarily push the mother elephant away, a team on the ground was able to rush in to help the baby out of the man-made hole. The baby and mother were reunited immediately afterwards.

See inside a “Squirrel Hospital.” At Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, north of Boulder, Colorado, injured and orphaned squirrels from all walks of life are fed, cared for, and eventually released back into the wild.Squirrels play a vital role in their ecosystem as a prey species, as well as spreading nuts and seeds from trees.
