Ambassador Gordon Sondland, a man who donated $1million to Donald Trump’s election campaign, flatly contradicted the President’s key line of defence in the impeachment inquiry.
He told the hearings that a visit to the US by the Ukrainian president was conditional on the country launching an investigation into Donald Trump’s political rivals.
In his own words – there was a quid pro quo.
President Trumps response was immediate – reading off notes he said he’d told Ambassador Sondland “I want nothing from Ukraine”.
