Plastic bags are to double in price to 10p under new plans aimed at curbing the use of single-use plastic.
It’s proposed that the new charge will apply to all shops in England.
Currently the UK’s 250,000 smaller shops are exempt from the bag levy.
The Government claims the charge has taken 15 billion plastic bags out of circulation and now it wants to go further in the fight against plastics.
