Marvel spent years planning, developing, and creating their cinematic universe. Millions of fans are now used to actors like Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, and Chris Pratt filling the roles of iconic heroes. The MCU even introduced fans to a bunch of newcomers like Tom Holland and Chadwick Boseman. Somewhere out there, there is an alternate MCU that is filled with huge Hollywood names who have taken on these roles. If decisions were made a little differently, then you would see a whole MCU with a lot of other familiar faces.
Long before the MCU was even formed, Tom Cruise was set to play the role of Tony Stark in an Iron Man film. He would have been able to mix his Mission Impossible stunt talents with some fun acting choices. John Krasinski is a former star of “The Office” that was up for two different MCU roles. This included both Captain America and Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy. Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt was also up for the role of Black Widow and nearly took it. Chris Hemsworth will forever be known as Thor, but the huge hammer was nearly handed over to actor Charlie Hunnam. After becoming a breakout star on The Game of Thrones, Jason Momoa was getting all kinds of role offers. He eventually took the role of Aquaman, but he was nearly cast as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy. The Hulk has been played by many actors through the years, but it was almost Joaquin Phoenix who took the role for the MCU.
