Meet the Giant Cave-Dwelling Tortoises of the Seychelles | National Geographic

Giant tortoises on Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles have their own way to keep cool: They rest in caves. Tortoises have been observed seeking shade under trees and bushes, but this is the first time people have recorded large groups of tortoises sheltering in caves to escape the heat. Caves help the tortoises survive on this coral island, where temperatures can reach up to 109 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees Celsius).
