The MCU isn’t always faithful to the comics, and these villains all appear with major changes on the big screen. Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/ho3Hg6
When you’re watching a comic book movie, the characters you’re seeing on the screen are very rarely completely faithful depictions of the versions presented in the source material. Quite often, the characters look completely different, have different origins, different power levels and possess different abilities, or have different personalities – in some cases, all four of those differences actually apply.
This is even true in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the most successful of all comic book movie franchises – particularly in the case of the franchise’s villains.
In this video, we’ll look deeper into that notion. The following MCU villains were completely changed for their respective movies; Aldrich Killian and the Mandarin were nothing like they are in the comics in 2013’s Iron Man 3, Ego the Living Planet was a very different being in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to the one seen in comics, Tom Hiddleston’s incredibly popular Loki is even dramatically different from his comic book counterpart, Whiplash from 2013’s Iron Man 2 was actually an amalgamation of two characters from the comics, Ultron had different origins and powers from the comics in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Malekith in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World was far less interesting than the comic book version of the character, almost everything about Zemo was different from the comics in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster was absolutely nothing like the comic book version in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, Hela was extremely different to her comic book counterpart in that same movie, and Thanos – at least what we’ve seen of him so far – is a far cry from the comic book version.
