Gamers know their games. With so many different genres of video games, there’s something for every gamer whether they’re casual gamers or hardcore gamers. That’s the beauty of the video game industry. It caters to a lot of people and there’s something for gamers of all ages to enjoy. It truly is an inclusive business model set to entertain the masses in the easiest way possible.
Most gamers take pride in their genre of choice. They may branch out from time to time and play a variety of games, but being knowledgeable in one specific genre is useful. It ensures that you’ll never miss out on a hot new video game title. However, with gaming comes a certain lifestyle and expectations on what a gamer should know. It’s not against the law to have never played any Mario game, but it’s somewhat frowned upon since it’s a classic. Gamers want to game with others who share their same passion.
Now there’s nothing wrong with not knowing everything about every video game ever! No one has time to become a walking encyclopedia of video game knowledge, but some of the examples on this list might be a little embarrassing if they were brought to light publicly. It’s cool though! We’ve all been there at some point and half the fun of gaming is learning new things about all things video game. So don’t be embarrassed if you haven’t played every game ever and don’t get upset if you’ve never owned a Dreamcast. We all have our dark gaming secrets we won’t ever admit.
