It doesn’t matter what you do or where you go, the annoying and adorable little yellow guys known as the minions are everywhere. Across a range of media, and especially feature length film, the minions have rose to power and are a mainstay of pop culture.
But even if you know the minions and the Despicable Me films, you might not know that the films are littered with hidden Easter eggs. And today, all of us here at Screen Rant are going to take you along on our egg hunt, as we take a look at ten Easter eggs you may have missed in the Despicable Me movies.
The Despicable Me films do a great job at teasing their other films with subtle references, such as upcoming Dr Seuss characters on Margot’s t-shirts, and pigs on Dru’s farm which resemble the pigs from Illumination’s other film Sing. They also make reference to non Illumination films, such as Star Wars, which is referenced by Dr Nefario being frozen in carbonite, like Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back. They also reference another character of Harrison Ford’s, this time Indiana Jones, as Gru steals something which resembled the idol Indy took at the start of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
There are also a fair few music Easter eggs. Balthazar Bratt introduces a lot of references to music from the 1980’s, such as Madonna and Michael Jackson. Stuart also played a Van Halen song an entire decade before Halen ever did. And fire hydrants get very high culture, with references to Mozart!
